The National Lottery of Nigeria has unveiled an Unstructured Supplementary Service Data code while committing to promoting economic development in the country.
The code was unveiled in Abuja on Wednesday at a press briefing.
Speaking at the briefing, the Managing Director of the lottery firm, Layi Onafowokan, noted that the code would make it easier for ordinary Nigerians to participate in the lottery for economic advancement.
He noted that asides lifting Nigerians from poverty with its range of exciting games playable with as little as N100, the lottery would also help combat unemployment.
Onafowokan added that the flagship game, Naija Mega Jackpot, had a minimum amount of N45m, which can grow to hundreds of millions.
He noted that Nigerians could use the USSD code *9966# or the website at www.nationallotterynigeria.com.
On the economic benefit, Onafowokan said, “Aside from revenue for the government, the National Lottery Nigeria will also create jobs and encourage entrepreneurship through its various initiatives. A percentage of the proceeds from ticket sales will also be allocated to various charitable causes, helping to make a positive difference in the lives of Nigerians.”
The Director-General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Lanre Gbajabiamila, assured Nigerians that the entire lottery process would be transparent.
He added that there is an integrity committee to ensure that there are no discrepancies.
